Fruits are medium size with an elongated shape. They do develop a chocolate brown hue which is very unique to peppers. Although their flavor is sweet and their texture is crunchy, it is important to note that they do not possess a chocolate taste. I find that they have a more concentrated "pepper" flavor which I really enjoy (not in a spicy way). Due to their distinctive color, they make a fantastic addition to salads as a slicing pepper, adding a lot of visual appeal. Peppers start off green in color, turn chocolate brown about half way thru, and at full maturity turn bright red. It was discovered in a remote area of a town called Mathania (hence its name). It is a historic and culturally significant pepper that is a key ingredient in many Indian dishes. The long pods start green and then turn a vibrant red when fully ripe. They are known to have a moderate amount of spiciness with a fruity flavor. It is used both fresh and dried to make a paste or powder. They have a Scoville rating of 50,000-80,000, making them spicier than cayenne or tobasco peppers (which have a 50,000 Scoville rating). I found the plants to be very productive and heat tolerant. I don't like spicy foods so I am growing this in effort to preserve this rare pepper cultivar. If your a pepper enthusiasts, please consider growing this cultivar not only for its unique flavor but also to aid in heirloom preservation.

Peppers are slow to germinate and slow to start growing to transplant size. Jalapeños start off green and ripen to a deep red, developing a slightly sweeter flavor. These productive plants thrive in warm, sunny conditions and should be started indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost. Transplant into well-draining soil, keep evenly watered, and enjoy a continuous harvest throughout the season. Pick them early for a crisp, mild heat or let them fully ripen for a deeper, spicier flavor. Jalapenos have a Scoville rating of 2,000-5,000. They are usually harvested in the green stage and either used fresh, pickled, or dried. If a lot of rain is expected, pre-treatment will help to prevent diseases.

Common Pests: Whiteflies and mealybugs are common sap-sucking pests on pepper plants. Whiteflies gather on the undersides of leaves, causing yellowing and leaf drop, while mealybugs, covered in a white, cotton-like wax, weaken plants and produce sticky honeydew that attracts sooty mold. Treat both pests with regular applications of an organic insecticidal soap, focusing on leaf undersides. Additionally, use yellow sticky traps to capture adult white flies. For severe white fly infestations, remove badly infested leaves and spray with spinosad.

Do I have a YouTube video tutorial on how to grow this? YES

Check out my tutorial on how to grow peppers from seed: https://youtu.be/9j74wQpahsA

Check out my tutorial on how to transplant peppers for maximum production: https://youtu.be/hqkwOP-ci9M

Additional Tips/Information: N/A

Red Biquinho aka Little Beak Sweet Pepper Seeds Heirloom Vegetable Seeds
Caspsicum chinense
Listing is for 1 packet with a minimum of 15 seeds.

Check out my tutorial on how to grow peppers from seed: https://youtu.be/9j74wQpahsA
Check out my tutorial on how to transplant peppers for maximum production: https://youtu.be/hqkwOP-ci9M

Red Biquinho peppers, also known as "little beak" peppers due to their distinctive teardrop shape, are a mild and flavorful variety of Capsicum chinense. Most peppers in this group are hot, but this one is sweet without any heat. I found this to be one of the best tasting sweet peppers I ever had. It has a nice fruity flavor. Plants get very bushy and can grow over 4FT tall. It will require some sort of support or pepper cage because the stems are thin and heavy with fruit. The best time to harvest the peppers is when they start to blush orange/yellow. I found that if I left them on the plant until they turned all the way red, the peppers would quickly deteriorate. It is best to harvest when they start blushing and bring inside so they continue ripening up to red on your kitchen counter.

Peppers are slow to germinate and slow to start growing to transplant size. This heirloom favorite produces sturdy, compact plants loaded with large, blocky, thick-walled peppers that can be harvested at the crisp green stage or left to fully ripen to a vibrant, sweet red. Known for its dependable yields, uniform shape, and excellent flavor, California Wonder is perfect for fresh eating, stuffing, grilling, and preserving. The fruits typically grow 3–4 inches long with firm flesh and a rich, sweet taste that intensifies as they turn red. Peppers thrive in full sun and warm soil, so transplant after all danger of frost has passed and soil temperatures are consistently warm. Keep plants evenly watered and well-fed for best production, and harvest regularly to encourage more fruit. Originally brought to California from New Mexico in the early 1900s and popularized in Anaheim, these peppers are beloved for their gentle heat (usually 500–2,500 Scoville units) and versatile flavor that’s slightly sweet, earthy, and perfect for roasting, stuffing, grilling, or making homemade green chili sauce. Anaheim peppers are especially famous for Chile Rellenos and are a staple in Southwestern and Mexican-inspired cooking. The plants are productive, adaptable, and ideal for garden beds, raised beds, or large containers, thriving in full sun with well-draining soil and consistent watering. A member of the Capsicum chinense family, the Datil pepper is primarily grown in and around St. Augustine, Florida, ripening from olive green through lime yellow to a glowing golden orange, with mature pods measuring 3–4 cm long. What sets the Datil apart from its habanero cousins is its extraordinary balance of intense fruity heat and surprising sweetness — you may catch notes of apricot or citrus before the slow-building burn blooms. For over 200 years, local Minorcan families have saved and re-planted these seeds, making the Datil a true heirloom crop — a small, golden-orange chili about the size of your thumb that thrives in sandy soil, hot sun, and coastal humidity. Grow this piece of Florida heritage in full sun with well-draining soil; plants reach 2–3 feet tall with a bushy, multi-trunked habit, spaced roughly 3 feet apart, and take approximately 100–120 days from seeding to first fruit. Seeds germinate best at soil temperatures of 75–80°F, taking 10–20 days to sprout, and are best started indoors in late winter before transplanting once temperatures warm. Best suited for USDA Zones 9–11, though they can also be grown as a perennial in containers, producing peppers all through summer and fall. Celebrated as "the pepper of St. Augustine," the Datil is a staple of Minorcan cuisine, beloved in hot sauces, jellies, relishes, salsas, and the region's famous Minorcan clam chowder. These seeds are a rare find — grow your own taste of Old Florida history.

Peppers are slow to germinate and slow to start growing to transplant size. I recommend to start seeds in pots/trays with a heat mat to speed up germination. Then start fertilizing weekly with half strength fertilizer once the first set of true leaves appear. Peppers are similar to tomatoes in that they like plenty of water and are heavy feeders.

Peppers are perennial plants and can produce for several years if taken care of. In cold climates trim off all the leaves and bring in doors in a pot to over winter. Place back out doors once temperatures are nice and warm. In mild climates, pepper plants can be left out doors and might need to be covered on the coldest nights.

Ideal Growing Conditions

Sun: 8 hours of full sun. Crack one open and the first thing that hits you is the smell — a fruity, tropical fragrance followed by flavors of ripe mango, citrus, and faint floral sweetness that lingers on the palate. Plants grow up to 2 feet tall and produce high yields of 2" lantern-shaped fruits that mature from green to a beautiful light golden yellow — and are named in part for the delicious scent they release when cooking. Trinidad Perfume matures approximately 85 days after transplant, and compact plants are well-suited to container growing, making them a great choice for patios and small gardens. Use these peppers fresh in soups, salads, and sauces, or dry them into a flavorful mild pepper powder — perfect for cooks who want bold Caribbean flavor without the heat.

Peppers are slow to germinate and slow to start growing to transplant size.

If a lot of rain is expected, pre-treatment will help to prevent diseases.

Common Pests: Whiteflies and mealybugs are common sap-sucking pests on pepper plants.
