- ½ cup softened butter, room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup passion fruit juice, seeds strained out
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1¾ cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Zest of 1 orange
For the Crumb Topping
- 5 tablespoons melted butter
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup flour
- ½ cup rolled oats
- ¼ teaspoon salt

How to Make Passion Fruit Orange Muffins
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a standard muffin tin with paper liners.
2. Start by making the crumb topping. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, sugar, flour, rolled oats, and salt until the texture becomes crumbly. Set this aside while you make the muffin batter.
3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and salt until smooth and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract, eggs, Greek yogurt, orange zest, and passion fruit juice. Mix until everything is well combined.
4. Next, add the flour and baking powder. Gently mix until the batter comes together and no dry flour remains. Avoid overmixing, since that can make muffins dense instead of soft and tender.
5. Scoop about ¼ cup of batter into each muffin liner. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of crumb topping over each muffin.
6. Bake for about 40 minutes, or until the tops are golden and a knife or toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Let the muffins cool slightly before serving.

Tips for the Best Muffins
Use strained passion fruit juice for a smoother texture. The seeds are edible, but removing them gives the muffins a softer crumb and lets the citrus flavor shine.
Greek yogurt helps keep the muffins moist and tender, while the orange zest balances the passion fruit’s tangy flavor. For the best result, use fresh orange zest rather than bottled extract.
The crumble topping should look sandy and clumpy before baking. As the muffins bake, it turns golden, slightly crisp, and buttery.
These passion fruit orange muffins are sweet, tangy, and soft with just the right amount of crunch from the crumb topping. The combination of passion fruit and orange makes them taste bright and tropical without being overly sweet.
They’re a great recipe to keep on hand when you have fresh passion fruit to use, and they work beautifully for breakfast, brunch, or a simple homemade dessert.

Aloha from Maui. These look mega delicious. My little vine produced over 200 lilikoi this winter. Juice is processed and frozen for use throughout the year. These muffins are next up!
