Common Milkweed Seeds (Asclepias syriaca) Flower Seeds - Native Wildflower Milkweed For Monarch Butterfly Caterpillars
Asclepias syriaca
Listing is for 1 packet of minimum 20 seeds

Common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) is a hardy, native perennial wildflower that plays a critical role in supporting monarch butterflies, serving as one of their primary host plants. It produces large, globe-shaped clusters of fragrant pink flowers that bloom from mid-summer into fall and attract a wide variety of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Known for its adaptability, common milkweed thrives in full sun and average to dry soil, spreading by reseeding. It’s ideal for pollinator gardens, meadows, and naturalized spaces, and once established, it's drought-tolerant and low-maintenance. If you’re looking to create a monarch habitat or support native pollinators, this iconic milkweed is a must-have.

PLANTING
Germination: 2-3 weeks, milkweed is a slow germinator

Seed Sowing Depth: 1/4” deep

Sowing: In late fall, plant butterfly milkweed seeds just under the soil surface. They’ll sprout in spring after the last frost. When seedlings appear, keep the strongest one and remove the rest—these plants don’t like having their roots disturbed. If you prefer spring planting, mix the seeds with damp sand, refrigerate for 30 days to cold stratify (helps get better germination), then sow them outdoors.

Shipping Information

Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.

Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.

Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. I also have lots of information on my TikTok, Instagram and YouTube channel all under the account name jerrasgarden. I started this shop to share my love of certain seed varieties and spread the knowledge of gardening. Please contact me if you can't find information or have additional questions.

Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.

Refunds & Exchanges

No returns or refunds once shipped. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages caused by USPS. Since there are so many factors that affect germination and growing success, no refunds or exchanges are allowed once seeds have shipped. These are the same seeds I use in my personal garden so I can attest to their viability. Seeds are fresh season to season.
