The “Double Mahoi” is a rare Hawaiian dwarf banana that earns its name by producing two full hands of plump, sweet dessert bananas on a single stalk—doubling your harvest without doubling your space! Compact enough for large pots yet vigorous in the ground, this variety tops out around 6–8 ft tall, making it ideal for patios, balconies, or small backyards. Plant in full sun, in a rich, well‑drained soil amended with plenty of organic matter; keep the root zone evenly moist but never water‑logged. Feed monthly during the warm season with a balanced, high‑potassium fertilizer to fuel rapid growth and fruiting, and mulch heavily to conserve moisture and protect shallow roots. In cooler climates, overwinter indoors or wrap the stem and mulch the base to safeguard against frost. Remove spent leaves to improve airflow, and allow one strong pup to replace the mother plant after fruiting to ensure a continuous cycle of double harvests year after year.

Ideal Growing Conditions
USDA Hardiness Zones: 9B-11
Protect young plants if temperatures drop below 50F. Once established, they can take brief periods of cold down to 32F but expect some leaf damage. The entire plant can die if temperatures drop below 32F.
Perennial evergreen - will lose leaves if exposed to too much cold

Sun: Full sun is best for maximum growth and production. Can tolerate some partial shade but production will be decreased.

Soil: Everything grows best in soil that is heavy in composted organic matter BUT this plant grows just fine in a variety of soils without amendments, like my native Florida sandy soil.

Water: Monitor young plants and keep consistent water.

Fertilizer: Bananas are nutrient hungry plants. Fertilize every month with a citrus fertilizer or 10-10-10.

Shipping Information

Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.

Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.

Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. I also have lots of information on my TikTok, Instagram and YouTube channel all under the account name jerrasgarden. I started this shop to share my love of certain seed varieties and spread the knowledge of gardening. Please contact me if you can't find information or have additional questions.

Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.

Refunds & Exchanges

No returns or refunds once shipped. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages caused by USPS. Since there are so many factors that affect germination and growing success, no refunds or exchanges are allowed once seeds have shipped. These are the same seeds I use in my personal garden so I can attest to their viability. Seeds are fresh season to season.
