Golden Acre is an heirloom cabbage variety known for producing compact, round, green heads that average 3–5 pounds, making them perfect for smaller garden spaces or raised beds. Golden Acre cabbage matures quickly, often ready to harvest in just 60–65 days, and has a sweet, mild flavor ideal for fresh coleslaw, stir-fries, soups, and sauerkraut. Its tight heads and short growing season make it an excellent choice for both spring and fall planting.
I have not experienced much pest issues if grown during the correct time of year which is fall through spring. Sometimes I get cabbage worms which will munch on the leaves. I use BT or Spinosad to treat for the worms. If I grow these closer to late spring, I get some aphid issues. I have found that if I plant kale and nasturtiums all over my garden, the aphids will feast on them instead. Therefore, I use kale and nasturtiums as a trap crops. PLANTING
Germination: 3-10 days
Seed Sowing Depth: 1/4” deep, barely press the seeds into the surface of the soil
Sowing: Sow seeds indoors, in 4 inch pots, 8-12 weeks before your last spring frost date for a spring crop. Or for a fall crop or if you are a hot climate gardener, sow seeds indoors 8-12 weeks before your target date of planting a fall garden.
Days to maturity: 65 days
Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.
Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.
Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.
No returns or refunds once shipped. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages caused by USPS. Since there are so many factors that affect germination and growing success, no refunds or exchanges are allowed once seeds have shipped. These are the same seeds I use in my personal garden so I can attest to their viability. Seeds are fresh season to season.
