Mini Golden Midget watermelon is a charming early heirloom that sets petite 3‑lb fruits whose rind turns a rich golden‑yellow at peak ripeness—no thumping guesswork required—revealing deep salmon‑pink flesh that’s sweet, crunchy, and nearly seedless. Bred at the University of New Hampshire for short‑season gardens, it matures in just 70 days, handles cooler nights, and its compact vines (5–6 ft) suit raised beds or large containers. Direct‑sow seeds in full sun once soil warms to 70 °F, spacing 3 ft apart, or start indoors 2 weeks early in pots to minimize root disturbance. Mulch to retain moisture and warm the soil, feed with a balanced organic fertilizer at the first true leaf and again at bloom, then ease watering as fruits color up to concentrate sugars. Harvest when the rind glows gold and the tendril nearest the stem dries—slice, chill, and enjoy personal‑size watermelons that fit right in the fridge!

Seed Sowing Depth: 1/2 inch deep
Sowing: Can direct sow after all danger of frost has passed. Or start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, in 4 inch pots.
Days to maturity: 60-70 days
Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.
Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.
Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.
No returns or refunds once shipped. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages caused by USPS. Since there are so many factors that affect germination and growing success, no refunds or exchanges are allowed once seeds have shipped. These are the same seeds I use in my personal garden so I can attest to their viability. Seeds are fresh season to season.
