Ice Plant is a dazzling annual ground cover known for its vivid, jewel-toned blooms that shimmer in the sunlight like they’re covered in frost—hence the name. Native to South Africa, this drought-tolerant succulent thrives in poor, sandy soil and hot, dry conditions, making it a perfect pick for xeriscaping, rock gardens, borders, and containers. What makes this variety so unique is its brilliant range of colors—from magenta and orange to lemon-yellow and pure white—and its ability to close its petals at night and reopen in the morning sun. Easy to grow and low maintenance, Ice Plant adds a burst of cheer and resilience wherever it's planted. Its compact, spreading habit creates a carpet of color, attracting pollinators and delighting gardeners looking for something both hardy and eye-catching.

PLANTING
Germination: 14-21 days
Seed Sowing Depth: Seeds require light to germinate. Do not cover with soil. Instead press seeds sown so they make contact with the soil and make sure the area gets full sun or light. Keep the soil moist to help speed up germination.
Sowing Directions: For a fall planting - sprinkle the seeds on top of the soil in late fall. For a spring planting - put the seeds in a bag with damp sand and keep them in the fridge for 1–2 months before planting. Can also start seeds indoors about 6–8 weeks before your last spring frost date to grow trasnplants. They are ready to plant outside once all danger of frost has passed.
Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.
Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.
Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.
No returns or refunds once shipped. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages caused by USPS. Since there are so many factors that affect germination and growing success, no refunds or exchanges are allowed once seeds have shipped. These are the same seeds I use in my personal garden so I can attest to their viability. Seeds are fresh season to season.
