Boysenberry is a delicious and rewarding addition to any edible garden! A cross between raspberries, blackberries, and loganberries, boysenberries produce large, deep purple berries with a rich, sweet-tart flavor that’s perfect for fresh eating, jams, pies, and sauces. These vigorous brambles thrive in full sun with well-drained soil and benefit from a trellis or support system to manage their sprawling growth. Boysenberries prefer mild climates but can be grown in zones 5–9 with proper winter protection. For best results, plant in early spring or fall, keep the soil consistently moist (but not soggy), and prune after fruiting to encourage healthy, productive canes year after year. The vines do go dormant and loose all of their leaves during the winter like many other types of berry plants. Boysenberry produces a harvest in late spring to early summer.

How long will it take to start harvesting? Approximately 2-3 years if grown in ideal conditions.

Ideal Growing Conditions
USDA Hardiness Zones: 5-10. Protect young plants if temperatures drop below 40F.

Height/width at maturity: Each plant gets 5 to 7FT tall with equal spread.

Sun: Full sun is best for maximum growth and production.

Soil: grows best in loamy soil heavy in composted organic matter.

Water: Monitor young plants and keep consistent water.

Fertilizer: Fertilize in early spring to encourage new vine growth

Harvest: It will take 2-3 years for a starter plant this size to start producing.

Shipping Information

Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.

Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.

Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. I also have lots of information on my TikTok, Instagram and YouTube channel all under the account name jerrasgarden. I started this shop to share my love of certain seed varieties and spread the knowledge of gardening. Please contact me if you can't find information or have additional questions.

Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.

Refunds & Exchanges

No returns or refunds once shipped. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages caused by USPS. Since there are so many factors that affect germination and growing success, no refunds or exchanges are allowed once seeds have shipped. These are the same seeds I use in my personal garden so I can attest to their viability. Seeds are fresh season to season.
