Marsh Blazing Star (Liatris spicata) is a striking native perennial wildflower known for its tall, spike-like purple blooms that light up pollinator gardens in mid to late summer. This variety thrives in moist soils—making it perfect for rain gardens, low spots, or naturally wet areas—and attracts a wide array of beneficial insects, especially monarchs, bees, and native butterflies. The long-lasting blooms also make beautiful cut flowers. Unlike many wildflowers, Marsh Blazing Star grows in a tidy, upright form that works beautifully in both naturalized plantings and more formal garden beds. It’s low-maintenance, deer-resistant, and adds bold vertical color and movement to any garden.

PLANTING
Germination: 4-6 weeks, it is a slow germinator. Cold stratification helps.
Seed Sowing Depth: 1/4” deep
Sowing: In late fall, direct sow seeds just under the soil surface. They’ll sprout in spring after the last frost. If you prefer to plant in spring, mix the seeds with damp sand, refrigerate for 60 days to cold stratify (helps get better germination), then sow them outdoors.
Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.
Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.
Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.
No returns or refunds once shipped. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages caused by USPS. Since there are so many factors that affect germination and growing success, no refunds or exchanges are allowed once seeds have shipped. These are the same seeds I use in my personal garden so I can attest to their viability. Seeds are fresh season to season.
