Panama Red Passion Fruit LIVE Starter Plant | Fast Growing Tropical Fruit Vine
Passiflora edulis ‘Panama Red’

Listing is for one rooted plant. Plants are grown in 72 cell trays so that they will be rooted but small enough for efficient shipping. Check out my YouTube video "Live Plant Care Guide & Delivery Unboxing for my Customers" for further instructions on what to expect with your live plant delivery and care tips: https://youtu.be/BmPw4rKLwDk

Add a tropical showstopper to your garden with a Panama Red passion fruit — a fast-growing, vigorous passionfruit vine known for its stunning flowers, heavy production, and sweet-tart tropical fruit. This variety is especially loved because it produces large, flavorful passionfruit with deep red to purple tones (depending on ripeness and growing conditions), and it thrives in warm climates where passionfruit grows best. Panama Red is a great choice for gardeners who want a vine that can quickly cover a trellis, fence, arch, or pergola, creating a beautiful edible privacy screen while also attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. With proper support, sunshine, and regular watering while establishing, this plant can reward you with abundant fruit and lush growth — making it one of the most exciting tropical fruit vines you can grow at home!

FYI - passion fruit is a butterfly host plant for Gulf fritillary and Zebra Longwing butterflies. Please do not spray passion fruit vines with anything. These caterpillars will munch on the leaves but its not enough damage to negativly impact passion fruit vines.

How To Grow & Ideal Growing Conditions
USDA Hardiness Zones: 9-13

Protect young plants if temperatures drop below 40F.

Perennial vining plant

Self-fertile but will produce more if there are 2 plants that can cross pollinate with each other

Sun: Full sun

Vine Length/Plant Size: Mature vines can get over 20FT. This is a very vigorous vining plant that requires vertical support to grow properly.

Soil: Everything grows best in soil that is heavy in composted organic matter BUT passion fruit can grow in a variety of soils, like my native Florida sandy soil. Just fertilize regularly.

Fertilizer: Use citrus fertilizer. My favorite is Espoma organic granular citrus-tone. Fertilize young vines to encourage lots of healthy growth with about 1/8 cup every 1.5 months. Once vines are established, I barely fertilize. I'll throw some fertilizer its way a few times a year, starting in spring to help "wake" up the vines after winter.

Shipping Information

Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.

Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.

Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. I also have lots of information on my TikTok, Instagram and YouTube channel all under the account name jerrasgarden. I started this shop to share my love of certain seed varieties and spread the knowledge of gardening. Please contact me if you can't find information or have additional questions.

Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.

Refunds & Exchanges

No returns or refunds once shipped. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages caused by USPS. Since there are so many factors that affect germination and growing success, no refunds or exchanges are allowed once seeds have shipped. These are the same seeds I use in my personal garden so I can attest to their viability. Seeds are fresh season to season.
