The Southern Home Muscadine Grape is a unique hybrid variety that combines the best traits of muscadine and bunch grapes. Known for its compact, vigorous growth and disease resistance, it's perfect for home gardeners, especially those in hot, humid climates. This self-fertile grapevine produces sweet, tangy, black-skinned fruit, ideal for fresh eating, preserves, or winemaking, while its deeply lobed foliage adds ornamental value to any garden. Fruits ripen from August to November.

Unlike traditional muscadine grapes, Southern Home offers a lower-maintenance option with hybrid vigor, making it both productive and decorative. Its resilience against common grapevine diseases and ability to thrive in smaller spaces make it a versatile choice for those looking to enjoy delicious, homegrown grapes with ease.

Ideal Growing Conditions
The Southern Home Muscadine Grape thrives in warm, humid climates and is ideal for USDA hardiness zones 7-11. It prefers full sun, requiring at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce a strong crop of fruit. This variety grows best in well-draining soil, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH level (around 5.5 to 7.0). If your soil is heavy clay or poorly draining, amending with organic matter can improve its structure.

Muscadine grapes like Southern Home require regular watering, especially during the establishment phase and in dry periods, but they do not tolerate waterlogged soil. Aim to keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. A deep watering schedule, about once a week, is usually sufficient, although more frequent watering may be necessary during hot weather.

For optimal growth, apply a balanced fertilizer (such as 10-10-10) in early spring, just as the vine begins to grow. Additional light feedings every 6-8 weeks throughout the growing season can help boost fruit production.

Shipping
***I cannot ship this plant to Hawaii due to agricultural restrictions***
Please understand that I only offer USPS flat rate priority mail options for plants/bulbs/rhizomes. The longer they stay in transit, the greater the risk that it will arrive dead or damaged. I just want to ensure that plants arrive alive/healthy to my customers.

Shipping Information

Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.

Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.

Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. I also have lots of information on my TikTok, Instagram and YouTube channel all under the account name jerrasgarden. I started this shop to share my love of certain seed varieties and spread the knowledge of gardening. Please contact me if you can't find information or have additional questions.

Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.

Refunds & Exchanges

No returns or refunds once shipped. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages caused by USPS. Since there are so many factors that affect germination and growing success, no refunds or exchanges are allowed once seeds have shipped. These are the same seeds I use in my personal garden so I can attest to their viability. Seeds are fresh season to season.
