Tatsoi Asian Mustard Greens Heirloom Vegetable Seeds
Brassica rapa
Listing is for 1 packet of minimum 25 seeds

Tatsoi is a near perfect substitute for spinach, except it grows better in warmer climates such as the south/Florida. It tolerates heat better than spinach. So if you have a hard time growing spinach, try Tatsoi. Tatsoi has a milder flavor compared to spinach. It does not remind me of a "mustard green" type flavor even though this is a mustard. The leaves cook down and have a similar texture to spinach. The leaves are lush, glossy, and grow in a beautiful rosette shape. Tatsoi has more vitamin C than an orange, plus other minerals and nutrients. I like to throw a big handful of blood meal in each planting hole, which is high in nitrogen and supports lots of green leafy growth.

Ideal Growing Conditions

Sun: Does best getting 6 hours of sun a day. Grow in partial shade in hot climates.

Water: Keep the soil consistently moist

Fertilizer: Add some blood meal into the planting hole before transplanting or work some into the soil before direct sowing seeds. This one time application of fertilizer should be enough for the entire growing season.

When & How To Sow Seeds: Can direct sow after all danger of frost has passed and continue into summer. Direct sowing the seeds is the easiest method. Rake some blood meal into the soil to give tatsoi a nitrogen boost. Sprinkle a few seeds over the soil surface, pat down, cover with 1/4 inch of soil, and water in. Keep the soil moist and it will germinate quickly. Or if you prefer, sow a few seeds in a container. Like a 4 inch pot or 72 cell seed tray. Transplant once the root system has developed and filled the container. Start fertilizing seedlings with a liquid fertilizer at half strength once the first set of true leaves appear.

Germination: 3-10 days

Days To Maturity: 50 days after direct sowing the seed

How & When To Harvest: Harvest individual leaves as needed.

Common Diseases: Fungal leaf diseases like downy mildew, black spot, and powdery mildew can sometimes be an issue especially in wet conditions. Proper plant spacing to improve air flow, not watering overhead, and pruning out excess foilage helps. Spray with 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water every 3 to 5 days until you notice the spread has stopped.

Common Pests: The most common pest when growing tatsoi is aphids. Use a strong spray of water to dislodge aphids from the leaves. For more severe infestations, spray with organic insecticidal soap or spinosad.

Shipping Information

Orders are shipped in 1-3 business days excluding holidays or delays due to natural disasters like hurricanes.

Seeds are shipped in bubble mailers so they will not be pushed through USPS roller machines which can damage the seeds. I will not ship seeds in an envelope for this reason.

Seeds will be shipped with no planting instructions to keep seed costs low to the buyer. Germination and plant care information is included in the description. I encourage each gardener to research specifics on how to be successful growing them. I also have lots of information on my TikTok, Instagram and YouTube channel all under the account name jerrasgarden. I started this shop to share my love of certain seed varieties and spread the knowledge of gardening. Please contact me if you can't find information or have additional questions.

Orders with live plants are packed on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding holidays or delays because of natural disasters. Plants are shipped in boxes with packaging material to protect them while they are in transit.

Refunds & Exchanges

Refund & Return Policy

All sales are final once an order has shipped.

Due to the nature of live plants and seeds, we do not accept returns or offer refunds once items have shipped, except in the limited circumstances outlined below.

Seeds

Since there are many factors beyond our control that affect germination and growing success—including climate, soil conditions, watering, and care—no refunds or exchanges are offered on seeds once they have shipped. All seeds sold are fresh, viable, and the same seeds we use in our own personal garden.

Live Plants

Live plants are non-refundable and non-replaceable. However, we gladly offer a replacement if a plant arrives dead upon delivery.

To be eligible for a replacement:

  • You must contact us within 24 hours of delivery
  • Email info@jerrasgarden.com
  • Include clear photos of all plants in the order, including packaging if possible

Reports made after 24 hours of delivery will not be eligible for a refund or replacement. We are unable to replace or refund plants reported outside of this timeframe, as plant health after delivery is influenced by factors out of our control such as handling, environmental conditions, and care once received.

Shipping Issues

We are not responsible for lost, delayed, or damaged packages caused by USPS or UPS once the package is in the carrier’s possession. Shipping carriers are responsible for transit-related issues.

By placing an order, you agree to this refund and replacement policy.
